Candlelight Concerts will close its 29th season and this year's fund-raising drive with a tribute to donors and volunteers who have supported the nonprofit group during its 2001-2002 season.
Supporters have been invited to an international buffet supper -- with food from 17 Howard County restaurants and caterers -- at 6:15 p.m. Saturday in Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts, 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia.
A concert by New York's Elements String Quartet will begin at 8 p.m. Quartets by Haydn and Shostakovich and works by J.S. Bach, Rachmaninov, Glazounov, Zorn, Taylor and Mendelssohn are on the program. Members of the group will discuss the pieces to be performed.
The performance by the Elements String Quartet was won by Bonita J. Bush, executive director of Candlelight Concerts, in a drawing at a Chamber Music America Conference in January last year in New York. The chamber music group specializes in performing for audiences unfamiliar with the genre.
The event is open to the public. Tickets, if available, are $25 and include the supper.
