Meachum named Arc's Volunteer of the Year

Thomas M. Meachum, an attorney with the Columbia firm of Reese & Carney, has been selected by the Arc of Maryland as recipient of its Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award.

Meachum, the outgoing president of the board of directors of the Arc of Howard County, was honored for his seven years of service to the nonprofit organization at the Arc of Maryland's convention.

Vantage House appoints Rojas executive director

Edwin Rojas has been hired as executive director of Vantage House Retirement Community.

The Ellicott City resident has been executive director of Heartlands Senior Living Village in Ellicott City for the past two years.

Hospital names Brown Employee of the Year

Arnold Brown, a patient-care technician at Howard County General Hospital, has been named Employee of the Year. Patient-care technicians provide nursing care, with the exception of administering medication, under the direction of a nurse.

Also nominated for the award were Dwayne Bailey of central transport; Patricia Bent, clinical program coordinator for the emergency department; Bonnie Ngamnsga, an operating room nurse; and physical therapist Lisa Goodfriend.
