Photography contest to focus on county agriculture
Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit is sponsoring a photography contest, "2002 People, Places, and Products of Howard County Agriculture."
The contest, which is being coordinated by the Agricultural Marketing Program of the Howard County Economic Development Authority, is open to all county residents.
Photos should vividly portray Howard County agriculture - the working landscape, those who work the land and the products of the land and labor.
Winners will be chosen from three age brackets. Photos will be judged by July 19. All winning photographs will be displayed at the Howard County Fair.

Workshops on world trade being held this week
The World Trade Center Institute, in cooperation with Loyola College, will present "Introduction to World Trade: Workshops I-VI" from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday at the Columbia campus of Loyola College, 7135 Minstrel Way.
The workshops, conducted simultaneously at several locations by video conferencing, will include importing, international transaction financing, international marketing, exporting and legal issues.
The cost for members is $50 a workshop; $250 for six. Nonmembers pay $75 a workshop; $375 for six. Participants can register at the door.

Susquehanna Bank opening Columbia branch Thursday
Susquehanna Bank will hold a grand opening for its Columbia branch, 10211 Wincopin Circle, on Thursday. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 4:15 p.m., and a cocktail reception is planned after the ceremony.
Kim Andreone Hughes has been appointed vice president and manager of the Columbia location, the first Susquehanna branch in Howard County.
Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
The bank, which is supported by its parent company, Susquehanna Bancshares Inc., has 22 Maryland branches and more than $1 billion in total assets.
