Baseball, O's lose fans by ignoring children
I am writing to show my displeasure during a recent trip to Camden Yards to see the Orioles. The game was a promotion for local Little Leaguers to participate in a parade before the game.
The children were allowed to walk onto the field in a parade-type setting. As my team approached the visiting team's dugout (Devil Rays), there were numerous players sitting on the bench. The players would not even acknowledge the children as the kids called them by name. These players apparently were too busy to say hello to the kids.
As we approached the Orioles' dugout, I saw a total of three players on the top step to high-five the players. How many players are currently on the roster?
I'm sure this event was planned for months, and I wonder why there wasn't a greater turnout by the Orioles for these kids, who waited in line for more than an hour.
I guess these prima donna players forgot where they came from. The Orioles players and management who did not participate in this event should be ashamed of themselves for this lack of support.
Now I realize why attendance is down throughout major-league baseball. You can be sure that this is the last Orioles game I will ever attend. I hope others will follow my lead.

Reporting on soccer is a waste of space
As The Sun shrinks in physical size and space becomes more of a premium, I suggest the following to use the space more effectively: Quit taking up space by reporting on soccer, including the World Cup games.
If golf is proof that a sport can be as boring as heck, soccer is proof that there's something more boring than heck.
The American public has no use for a game (soccer) where a tie can produce a champion.

Tired of baseball? Check out Bayhawks
I'm really getting tired of reading all the diatribes from so-called Orioles fans in the letters section.
Baseball appears to be a dying sport that's killing itself. Do you really want to send baseball and Orioles owner Peter Angelos a message? Start going to Bayhawks lacrosse games at Ravens Stadium this summer beginning Thursday.
The fast action, hitting and appreciative, approachable athletes the Bayhawks put on display are truly awesome.

Referees give Lakers special treatment
Ever since the Lakers-Kings game of May 26, I am not so sure I will continue to be an NBA fan.
At the end of the half, a Lakers player shot the ball as time was running out and the ball was clearly released after the buzzer. The replay showed he still had the ball in his hands.
Usually, the referees will check the replay, but since it was the Lakers and they were playing at home, the refs didn't even bother.
This just proves that championship teams get favored, therefore receiving all the close calls. I guess the NBA is trying to tell all the kids watching at home that cheating is OK if you get away with it.
