Captain, lieutenant retire from county Police Department

Capt. Thomas A. Suit, a 25-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, has retired as commander of the Southern District, effective yesterday.

Suit, a former homicide detective, grew up in Annapolis and was well-liked and respected by many community leaders in South County.

"That's what I'll miss - the people here at the station and the people of South County," Suit said.

Suit is leaving the department for a high-level security position with Baltimore Gas and Electric. He said he also plans to continue coaching lacrosse at Broadneck High School.

Another popular commander, Lt. Ron McCabe, also retired yesterday. McCabe, a 20-year county police veteran, had been assigned to the Western District. McCabe plans to work full-time as a real estate agent.

Police arrest 3 employees at Laurel massage parlor

A Laurel massage parlor is expected to be shut down by state authorities after Anne Arundel County police vice squad charged several women with prostitution and performing massages without licenses there last week.

The arrests of three women - one of whom is accused of being an illegal immigrant - completed a two-week investigation into S.K. Therapy, in the 3500 block of Fort Meade Road. Undercover officers entered the business as patrons and completed two inspections in uniform, police said.

During the past six months, police said the vice unit has investigated all six Asian massage parlors operating in the county. Five of them have since been closed by the state health department, police said. S.K. Therapy is the last parlor in business.

Body identified as that of Hagerstown woman

The body of a Hagerstown hair stylist who disappeared near Wayson's Corner in April was found in Prince George's County last week, according to police.

Karen Linda Moran, 45, was reported missing to Anne Arundel County Police on April 1. Moran had been walking with her niece to go bird-watching near the Patuxent River during a visit at her parent's house. Police said Moran apparently got into a light-colored car driven by a man with a ponytail after a brief conversation.

Her body was discovered by a man mowing a field in Upper Marlboro on Sunday, police said. Authorities said Prince George's County police will investigate Moran's death.

Second enclosed dog park to open at Broadneck

Anne Arundel County's second enclosed dog park will open at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at Broadneck Park. The county's first dog park opened last winter at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.

The new 2.5-acre dog park will be enclosed by a 6-foot-high fence and will be divided into two areas, one each for large and small dogs. The Broadneck Park dog park is on College Parkway, just east of Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold. Information: 410- 222-7317, Ext. 3530.
