June D. Bowers, a seller of used books, died Sunday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson of pancreatic cancer. She was 74.
Mrs. Bowers was born June Donovan in Kingston, N.Y., but spent most of her school years in Buffalo, where she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and attended D'Youville College.
She married Ronald P. Bowers in 1961. The next year, they moved to Baltimore. They had lived in Lutherville for the past 36 years.
After her children grew up, Mrs. Bowers explored her interest in antiques. She progressed into books and book-related items such as shelving and library tables, her husband said. She ran a shop called The Bookend, located in a co-op called Abundant Treasures on York Road in Cockeysville.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 York Road in Towson.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bowers is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Stone of Lutherville; three sons, Ronald P. Bowers Jr. of northern Baltimore County, John C. Bowers of Timonium and Thomas M. Bowers of White Marsh; and nine grandchildren.
