Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Central District

Attempted robbery: A 20-year-old woman told police she was walking in the 1600 block of Park Ave. at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday when a man approached from behind and asked for a cigarette. When she said she had none, the man swore at her and grabbed her around the waist in an attempt to get her purse. But noticing the presence of the woman's boyfriend, the would-be robber walked away.

Theft from vehicle: Someone broke a side window in a 1994 Ford Explorer parked in the 200 block of E. Mount Royal Ave. between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Tuesday and stole 35 compact discs and a CD case.

Southwestern District

Theft from vehicle: A black nylon zipper case, several cassette tapes, a pair of fuzzy blue dice and a Mickey Mouse antenna ball were stolen from a 1998 Dodge Neon parked in the 3100 block of Georgetown Road on Tuesday morning.

Burglary: A DVD player, several DVD movies and a blue gym bag were taken from an apartment in the 500 block of Coventry Road on Tuesday by someone who entered by breaking a side window.

Baltimore County

Woodlawn Precinct

Carjacking: A 1999 Plymouth Neon with tags HMV 067, belonging to a mother of two, was stolen by a man clad in black Monday in the 5600 block of Baltimore National Pike after she left the keys in the ignition and her children in the back seat. While the mother was inside Rent-A-Center paying a bill, the man entered the car and told the children, "Get out or else." They complied. Police said there were no injuries.

Burglary: A thief used a ladder to enter the bedroom window of a house in the 6500 block of Lenhert St. before 8 a.m. Tuesday and stole $400 from a coat pocket. The thief also moved a television and DVD player into the living room, but did not take them.
