Loyola women overrun G. Mason, 15-3


Ten Greyhounds scored as visiting Loyola handled George Mason, 15-3, in a Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse matchup yesterday.

Susan Tyrell scored three goals, and Suzanne Eyler, Rachel Shuck and Stephanie Walker all scored twice for the Greyhounds (8-1, 5-0).

Jill Toomey led the Patriots (5-3, 4-2) with a goal and an assist.

UMBC 15, American 11: Jen Dragoni and Lauren Traber each scored four times to lift the Retrievers (3-4) over the Eagles (5-5) in a nonconference game.

Jamie Gerhart recorded a game-high five points with two goals and three assists. Courtney Stringer stopped 17 shots in goal for UMBC.

College of Notre Dame 17, Trinity 0: Anglea Ruocco, Gina Ruocco and Liz Tangerini each scored three times as the Gators routed the visiting Tigers.


Western Maryland 13, Franklin & Marshall 12: Tom Brown scored the winning goal off an assist from Joe Ellis with 2:48 remaining in the second overtime to lift the Green Terror (9-0), ranked 11th in Division III, over the Diplomats (6-4) in a Centennial Confernece thriller.

Western Maryland goalie Brian Nottingham stopped 23 shots, 16 in the second half.

Salisbury 20, Marymount 5: Andy Arnold and Cory O'Neil scored three times each, and five other players scored twice to lead the Sea Gulls (8-2, 6-0), ranked ninth in Division III, over the visiting Saints (6-4, 3-2) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

Salisbury clinched the top seed for the CAC tournament and ran its all-time conference record to 44-0.

Goucher 12, Shenandoah 5: Phil Anthony scored twice and had an assist to become Goucher's all-time points leader as the Gophers (5-5) dropped the Hornets (1-7) in a nonconference game.

Down 1-0 in the first quarter, Goucher overwhelmed Shenandoah with a 10-0 run.
