Mary Russo, 80, bookkeeper, longtime Hamilton resident

Mary B. Russo, a retired bookkeeper and widow of a Hamilton physician, died of pneumonia Monday at Oak Crest Village, where she had lived for two years. She was 80, and until moving to the retirement community had resided in Hamilton since 1944.

Born Mary Barbara Bonanno in Baltimore and raised on High Street in Little Italy, she was a graduate of St. Leo Parochial School and, in 1939, the Institute of Notre Dame.

She worked for the former Western Maryland Dairy, later Sealtest, before her marriage in 1957 to Dr. Sebastian Russo, a Hamilton general practitioner who was killed in 1981 by intruders seeking drugs at his home office. A clock memorial was erected in his honor at Harford Road and Hamilton Avenue. Mrs. Russo was his bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Sons of Italy's Little Italy Lodge.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, Harford Road and Gibbons Avenue, where she was a member.

Mrs. Russo is survived by a daughter, Rosann Russo, and a sister, Geraldine R. Lioi, both of Baltimore.
