Yuletide Tours

See how some 18th-century homeowners decked their halls for the holidays on a tour of Fairmount Park houses in Philadelphia. The Park House Guides of the Philadelphia Art Museum is sponsoring day and evening Yuletide Tours, with trolleys departing from Philadelphia's Horticulture Center, tomorrow through Wednesday. The seven historic houses have been decorated by members of regional garden clubs, florists and local school students. In the evenings, three of the homes will be lighted in 18th- and 19th-century fashion. Food and wine will be served before the candlelight tours depart.

Trolley service for day tours runs at regular intervals from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. tomorrow through Wednesday. The Horticultural Center is in Fairmount Park. Tickets are $26; self-guided driving tours are $18. Candlelight evening tours take place from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The final evening tour is Tuesday. Tickets are $40. Scottish Christmas Walk

Let the sound of bagpipes lead you through Old Town Alexandria while you shop for thistle and heather decorations at the historic area's Christmas Marketplace. The marketplace and musical entertainment are both part of the Campagna Center's annual Scottish Christmas Walk to raise funds for its charity programs. Vendors will sell holiday gifts today through Saturday. At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Scottish Christmas Walk - a parade, actually - kicks off from Wilkes and South Pitt streets. More than 100 clans, pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers and Scottie dogs will march down Old Town's cobblestone streets. Visitors can also spend Saturday touring five historic homes, decorated for the holidays by local florists and interior designers.

Christmas Marketplace is open noon to 5 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Campagna Center, 418 S. Washington St., Alexandria, Va. Home tours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets $20; $15 if purchased in advance. Call 703-549-0111.
