Czech and Slovak Festival is Sunday

Haven't quite had your fill of ethnic festivals this year? The Czech and Slovak Festival takes place Sunday at the Baltimore 45 Association Hall. Watch costumed performers present dances from Slovakia, Moravia and Bohemia. Hear authentic music by the group Joy of Maryland. See exhibits and browse tables of goods from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Sample traditional food and drink, including Czech beer. And see ambassadors and other representatives from the embassies of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The Czech and Slovak Festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Baltimore 45 Association Hall, 2501 Putty Hill Ave., Parkville. $5; free for ages under 8. Call 410-366-6016.

Disabilities Expo

Check out some of the remarkable talents and achievements of disabled people in the community Sunday at the Disabilities Expo at the Weinberg Jewish Community Center. Visitors will see artworks by disabled individuals, cheer on players at a Maryland Ravens wheelchair basketball game and watch a magic show by father/daughter team Jay and Melissa Silverman. Visitors also can attend workshops, browse material at informational and educational booths and listen to speakers, including Ellen Edinger, who will discuss "Navigating the Special Education System"; Dr. Eve B. Band and Emily Hecht, who will present a lecture on "Sibling Issues." Allan J. Gibber will speak on "Legal and Financial Planning."

The Disabilities Expo is noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Weinberg Jewish Community Center, 5700 Park Heights Ave. Free. Call 410-542-6300, Ext. 522.
