Kinder Farm Park is offering a two-session Maryland Basic Boating Safety Course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 23 and 30 at the Severna Park Jaycees Community Building on the park grounds, off Jumpers Hole Road.
The course provides an overview of boating rules and safety fundamentals. Those who successfully complete the course will receive the safety certification required for anyone born after July 1, 1972, to operate a numbered or documented vessel or personal watercraft on state waterways.
The fee is $15. Advance registration is required.
Completes basic: Pvt. David A. Rosenbaum, son of Brenda J. Rosenbaum of Arnold and Kenneth L. Rosenbaum of Frederick, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Rosenbaum is a 1999 graduate of Severna Park High School.

Grief support: Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual Care and Bereavement Center is offering a six-week support group for adults grieving the death of a spouse.
