A 24-year-old man drowned yesterday at a community beach at the end of Sillery Bay Road in Pasadena.

Shawn Michael Bone of the 1400 block of Long Point Road was swimming with friends when he disappeared under a large wave, said Division Chief John Scholz of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

By the time rescuers arrived at the beach at about 2:15 p.m., a swimmer had located the victim. Bone was taken to North Arundel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Scholz.
