Boy, 17, fatally shot, found in northwest alley
A 17-year-old male was found dead of gunshot wounds about 9 a.m. yesterday in an alley behind the 4500 block of Park Heights Ave. in Northwest Baltimore, police said.
Antoine Manning of the 2900 block of Ridgewood Ave. in Forest Park had been dead for at least eight hours before his body was found by officers responding to a call, police said.
No arrest had been made, and police knew of no motive for the slaying.
Man shot 11 times, woman slightly wounded in attack
An unidentified man in his mid-20s was shot 11 times and a woman was slightly wounded about 12:30 a.m. yesterday in the 200 block of N. Caroline St. in East Baltimore.
Police said the man, who was shot in the upper body and abdomen, was in critical condition last night at Johns Hopkins Hospital. They said the 49-year-old woman suffered a graze wound; she was treated at Hopkins and released.
Several empty shell casings were found at the scene, police said. Witnesses reported seeing a beige car, occupied by at least three men, leave the scene.

Death of man struck by train ruled a suicide
LANHAM - The death of a man who was struck by an Amtrak train in Prince George's County on Saturday has been ruled a suicide, county police said yesterday.
The dead man's identity has yet to be confirmed, said Cpl. George Long. A train operator told police that the man was standing along the side of the tracks and stepped onto them as the northbound train approached, Long said.

Retired suffragan answers call to serve Easton diocese
EASTON - Charles D. Longest, the retired suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, has accepted a call to be the assisting bishop in the Diocese of Easton.
Longest, 68, will begin his ministry on the Eastern Shore on July 1. He will lead the diocese as it searches for a successor for Bishop Martin G. Townsend, who retires Thursday.
After ordination in 1960, Longest served in parishes in Baltimore and Western Maryland for 30 years before being elected suffragan, a bishop who assists the diocesan bishop, in 1989. He retired in 1997.
