Columbia Council seeks residents for 4 committees

The Columbia Council is seeking residents to serve one- or two-year terms on four council committees: risk management; budget; design and covenant; and communications.

One resident will be selected to serve on the Risk Management Committee. The candidate should have experience in general liability insurance.

The other three committees will each have three additional members.

Jewish women's group to honor 2 delegates

The National Council of Jewish Women will present the Hannah G. Solomon Award to Dels. Elizabeth Bobo and Shane Pendergrass at its Installation Dinner at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Crab Shanty, 3410 Plumtree Drive, Ellicott City.

New officers for the local chapter will be installed. County Executive James N. Robey will attend.

The organization will hold a multifamily yard sale, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 5005 Straight Star Place in Columbia's Hobbit's Glen neighborhood.

Jewelry, household items, art, books and other items will be for sale. Proceeds will help pay for activities to support the needs of women, children and the elderly.
