This little piggy loves to boogie

Elizabeth Winthrop, author of more than 40 children's books (and a few adult books, too), will stop by the Children's Bookstore in Baltimore tomorrow to promote her latest kids' work, "Dumpy La Rue," the story of a farm-dwelling pig who's just gotta dance.

Dumpy tells his wish to his father, he tells it to his mother, he tells his sister. And each time, the not-yet-prancing piglet hears back a laundry list of reasons why pigs don't boogie. But Dumpy knows what he wants and, despite the discouragement, starts his toes a-tapping, which throws the farm into an uproar.

Winthrop will tell the rest of Dumpy's story during her visit, but first she'll give a general presentation about her writing and the ideas behind this new work. She'll also sign copies of her books and answer questions afterward. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 737 Deepdene Road; 410-332-2000.
