Maritime Arts Festival

Celebrate the majesty of the ocean and the Chesapeake Bay this weekend during the ninth annual Mid-Atlantic Maritime Festival at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. Throughout the three-day nautical event, you can board historic schooners and hear stories from the crews; view arts and crafts exhibits; listen to music; and sample regional food. Also, try your hand at saltwater fly-fishing, test-sail a radio-controlled skipjack and observe fish carvers from around the country.

The festival is on Mill Street. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. tomorrow, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $7.50, $3 ages 6-17. Call 410-820-8606.

Cape May Music Festival

Nearly two dozen concerts will be presented in Cape May, N.J., over the next five weeks as part of the 12th annual Cape May Music Festival. Events range from orchestral and chamber-music programs to pop and jazz performances. The festival begins Saturday and continues through June 24 at venues throughout the Victorian town and neighboring communities.

The New England Spiritual Ensemble opens the music series with a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 1409 Pacific Ave. in Atlantic City, and 8 p.m. Sunday at the Cape May Convention Hall, Beach Drive and Stockton Place. The group of conservatory-trained professional singers is devoted to preserving the art and tradition of Negro spirituals. Among others scheduled to perform during the series are the Cape May Festival Orchestra, the New York Chamber Ensemble, Early Rainey's Epic Brass Quintet and the McCoy Tyner Trio.

General admission is $15 and $20, $5 students and $10 seniors; a flex pass with a choice of three concerts is $40, five concerts $65 and 10 concerts $125. Call 800-275-4278 or visit the Web site at
