Travel industry trade show planned at BWI tomorrow

Travel agents, travel agency owners and agency managers from the Washington-Baltimore region will gather in Anne Arundel County for the ninth annual Passport to the World travel industry trade show tomorrow.

The show, scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be held in the lower level of the international pier at Baltimore-Washington International Airport and will feature exhibitors from the travel industry.

The event brings together tour operators, airlines, car rental companies and other tour and travel suppliers.

Passport to the World is a project of the BWI Development Council's Tour and Travel Committee, a coalition of businesses and individuals working on the development of BWI Airport. Information: Debbie Klimczyk, 410-859-0124.

American expands service to Puerto Rico

American Airlines is introducing a second nonstop flight between BWI and San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting July 2, operating four days a week.

The flight will depart at 9:30 a.m. from BWI and returns from San Juan at 5:47 p.m.

American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, started regional jet service between Boston and BWI on May 1. The airline is offering five daily round trips with 37-seat Embraer-135 regional jets. American is BWI's fourth-largest carrier with 14 mainline flights and 11 Eagle flights to New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and San Juan.

New aeronautical chart available from MAA

The latest edition of the Maryland Aeronautical Chart has been printed and is available for distribution, providing pilots with basic information, including airport frequencies, airspace classifications and recommended communications procedures.

The charts, which are not intended for navigational purposes, are distributed at no cost by the Maryland Aviation Administration.
