10th annual Fruhlingsfest set at South Carroll High School


South Carroll High School German students and German Club members will present their 10th annual Fruhlingsfest - German Spring Festival - at 7 p.m. May 11 in the school cafeteria.

The event includes German desserts, music and dancing.

All are welcome. Tickets are $3 at the door. The school is at 1300 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Chevy club to hold car, truck show, drag racing

Heart of Maryland Classic Chevy Club will hold a Supreme Chevy & All GM Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 27 at 75/80 Dragway in Monrovia.

The car and truck show and drag racing for all GM-powered vehicles will feature more than 90 trophies to be awarded in classes ranging from 1913 to present vehicles in 18 divisions.

The day will include a flea market and car corral, burn out contest and eliminations.

General admission is $8. Car show entry is $15, plus $8 for each extra person in the car. Drag race Class I only fee is $30; drag race, other classes, is $20. The parts market and car corral is $20.

Alphabet train, book club slated at library branch

The Mount Airy library branch, 705 Ridge Ave., will offer programs this month.

"All Aboard the Alphabet Train: Jump for J" for all ages (children age 3 and younger with an adult) will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

"Snugglebugs" for babies to 24 months, featuring lap games, rhymes and a play group, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mount Airy Book Club for adults will meet at 7 p.m. May 15 and 10 a.m. May 17 to discuss "Girl in Hyacinth Blue" by Susan Vreeland.

Freedom Drama Troupe will present "Little Red Riding Hood" for all ages at 11 a.m. May 19. Registration begins today.
