Western District
Arson: Two fires about 2 a.m. Monday caused extensive damage to the second floor and front bedroom of a vacant rowhouse in the first block of N. Mount St. and the rear of an occupied house in the adjacent 1600 block of W. Baltimore St. Police believe the same person set both fires.
Northern District
Robbery: A woman armed with a handgun robbed the Royal Farms store in the first block of E. 33rd St. of $100 about 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Eastern District
Stolen vehicle: A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with tags 53G 360 was stolen in the 400 block of N. Castle St. between Friday and Monday.
Baltimore County
Parkville Precinct
Stabbing: A man, 81, was stabbed in an arm about 3 p.m. Monday during an incident with his son, 49, in their apartment in the first block of Shawnee Court at the Doncaster Village Apartments. The father was treated at Sinai Hospital and released. The son, who told police he was Satan, was taken into custody and admitted to Franklin Square Hospital Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
Towson Precinct
Robbery/arrest: As Officer Jay Zapanta was entering the Royal Farms store at Falls Road and Lake Avenue about 3 a.m. yesterday, a man with a lollipop in his mouth was leaving and drove off in a green minivan. Inside the store, Zapanta was told that the man, armed with a knife, had robbed the store. He radioed he was following the vehicle into Baltimore. Zapanta and county Officers Oscar Elliott and Robert Reed followed the minivan to a street near Park Heights Avenue and West Cold Spring Lane, where they found the man - with a lollipop in his mouth - hiding under a bush. The knife and money taken in the robbery were not recovered. Brian Merchant, 24, whose Baltimore address was not available, was charged with armed robbery.
Arrest: A man wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court fled into woods near Interstate 695 and Loch Raven Boulevard on Monday afternoon and was captured after being bitten on an upper forearm by Hero, a police dog. When the man refused to remove his hands from his pockets, Hero's handler, Officer Joseph Peach, ordered the dog to attack. Francis Buckingham, 40, of no fixed address was being held at the precinct.
Garrison Precinct
Animal cruelty: After removing a pet rabbit from a shed in the 3700 block of Springdale Ave. overnight Sunday, someone mutilated it and left its body in the rear yard.
Essex Precinct
Burglary: A television, videocassette recorder, microwave oven, vacuum cleaner and silver goblet - all valued at $1,613 - were stolen Monday from an apartment in the 1400 block of Strawflower Road.
