Andrew Combs scored three goals and Mike Mollot added two as top-ranked Maryland improved to 7-0 with an 8-4 victory over No. 13 Bucknell yesterday at Byrd Stadium.
Maryland and Bucknell alternated goals for the first half and the start of the third quarter before the Terps scored the final four goals of the game. Combs put Maryland ahead for good with his third goal of the game with 4:54 left in the third quarter to make it 5-4.
Mollot scored in the third and the fourth quarters, and Chris Malone added another third-quarter goal to give Maryland a 4-0 run to end the game.
Maryland's Pat McGinnis made six saves and backup Dan McCormick made three saves in the final 4:49.
No. 20 Navy 13, Lehigh 4: The visiting Mids (4-3) scored six goals in the first period and never looked back, handing the Mountain Hawks (1-6) their fifth straight loss.
Navy outshot the Mountain Hawks, 41-25. The Mids' Eddie McKinnon, Brendan Power and Mike Cataffo each had three points.
Women
Virginia 16, UMBC 8: Renee Tirocchi, Lauren Traber and Stephanie Allen each scored two goals for the Retrievers (2-3) in a loss to the visiting Cavaliers (5-4).
UMBC trimmed a 7-2 first-half deficit to 7-6 when sophomore Stephanie Allen scored 2:37 into the second period. Virginia answered, scoring the next four goals to restore the lead to 11-6 with 16:06 remaining. After Allen converted an Amanda Eldridge feed to make the score 11-7, the Cavaliers reeled off five goals in a row to put the game out of reach.
Western Maryland 17, Dickinson 5: Amy Bittinger and Erin Mulhern scored six points apiece to lead the Green Terror (1-4) to a Centennial Conference victory at Dickinson.
