A 22-year-old convicted killer was stabbed yesterday afternoon after a fight with another murderer in a recreation area at the Maryland House of Correction Annex in Jessup, authorities reported.
Jeremiah M. Jones of Bladensburg - imprisoned since he was 17, and serving a life term - was listed in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night.
Prison officials said Jones fought with and was stabbed by Rodney E. Solomon, 35, who is serving life plus 60 years in the 1992 Howard County carjacking death of Pamela Basu. The victim in the highly-publicized case, a 33-year-old scientist, was taking her toddler daughter to her first day of preschool when she was dragged nearly two miles from her car - with her child in the back seat.
Jones is serving a life term for fatally shooting a Bladensburg couple during an argument about drugs.
Solomon refused treatment after the fight, according to David B. Towers, a Division of Correction spokesman. The stabbing remained under investigation last night.
