Artist to show works from 'Port of Entry' series
C. Edward Ramsburg has created a "mess" and he's ready to show it in the art gallery at Western Maryland College.
Ramsburg's third show at WMC's Esther Prangley Rice Gallery features 29 drawings and paintings from his "Port of Entry" series. An opening reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the second-floor gallery in Peterson Hall. The show runs through April 13.
Following the technique of his mentor Vo-Dinh Mai, an abstract artist living in Florida, Ramsburg "makes a mess and then observes what the paint is doing" to create his acrylic works.
The "Port of Entry" series was created over the past two years and probably isn't finished, Ramsburg said.
Ramsburg also showed work at WMC in 1993 and 1995, the latter one of the first shows in the college's newly renovated gallery. The artist donated a painting to the college from his first show. The painting hangs in Hoover Library.
