Luke Palumbo Annapolis Area Christian, wrestling
The 125-pound senior capped a season of firsts for himself and his school. Palumbo captured his first private schools state championship by scoring a 9-3 decision over Conor Byrne of Calvert Hall. The state title was his school's first and earned him the B Division's Outstanding Wrestler Award. Palumbo, who won his school's first Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association crown last week, is 40-1 this season and 151-25 for his career. Bucknell, Gettysburg and Western Maryland College are among the universities interested in Palumbo.
Stacy Hollander Beth Tfiloh, basketball
A 4-foot-11 junior point guard, Hollander scored a game-high 18 points to lead Beth Tfiloh over Catholic, 46-31, in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference championship game. A National Honor Society student, Hollander had a season-high 29 points in a semifinal victory over Garrison Forest and 18 points in a quarterfinal win over Glenelg Country School. Hollander, who played soccer in the fall, averages 19.4 points, six assists and four steals for the Warriors (23-2) and is their team captain.
