Nature center seeking helpers on cleanup days


Pine Valley Nature Center in Manchester will hold two work days before its open house next month.

The first day will be at 8 a.m. Saturday for anyone interested in helping spruce up the nature center. The second cleanup day will be Oct. 7.

Students are encouraged to help and earn community service hours.

Historical center to hold exhibition of local work

Manchester Historical Center will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday for its annual photography display by local camera buffs.

The center has on display artifacts from the history of the town and offers items for sale to support projects.

The Historical Committee is looking for someone to set up a model railroad display of a functioning train yard for the center by Nov. 24.

Hampstead department to flush fire hydrants

Hampstead Department of Public Works will flush all town fire hydrants starting about 9 p.m. Oct. 4.

The flushing will cause water discoloration during flushing hours and the next day.

Residents should draw enough water Wednesday evening for use early Oct. 5. The average house system contains less than 100 gallons of water.

Residents should not do laundry during this time.

Water will be treated and potable.
