St. Barnabas Episcopal Church to install rector at service Saturday

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Sykesville will install the Rev. Walter Earl Mullins as its rector Saturday.

The Right Rev. Robert W. Ihloff, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, will officiate at the service, which will begin at 10 a.m.

Since Mullins began his ministry at St. Barnabas on Easter Sunday this year, the vestry has begun expanding its work in the community, broadening its ministry with seniors, youths, young families and children.

The parish is building a playground and has voted to build a multipurpose facility adjacent to its historic stone church. Mullins has encouraged parishioners to think of themselves as lay ministers to serve the parish and reach out to the congregation.

After the installation service, the Episcopal Church Women will serve refreshments.

St. Barnabas is at 13135 Forsythe Road, near Old West Friendship Road and Route 32. The Parish House is at 7609 Main St. in downtown Sykesville. Information: 410-795-7609.
