Carroll Road rebuilding approved by Owens; February completion likely

County Executive Janet S. Owens has approved a $600,000 contract for the reconstruction of Carroll Road in Glen Burnie.

Beginning early next month, a contractor for the Department of Public Works, M. Luis Construction Co. of Clinton, will grind down and rebuild Carroll Road from Biddle Road to New Jersey Avenue Completion is expected by late February.

In addition to rebuilding the road from the bottom up, the contractor will reconstruct curbs and gutters to improve storm drainage in the neighborhood and install a sidewalk for pedestrian safety, a Public Works spokesman said.

Work hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

The county cautioned that as driveway aprons are replaced, they might be inaccessible for 36 hours while the concrete hardens. Affected residents are to be notified in advance. On-street parking also might be restricted at times in construction zones.

At least one sidewalk will be available at all times for children walking to Glendale Elementary School, the county said.

Residents or motorists with questions or concerns may call Manuel Luis, the contractor, at 30l-868-7416; the county inspector, Carl Price, at 410-761-9889; or the DPW project manager, Dennis Fretz, at 410-222-7345.
