Police said yesterday it appears that two men found shot to death over the weekend in Southwest Baltimore were victims of a "drug hit."
The bodies were found on a dark and winding street in Windsor Hills, and it appeared the men were driven to the area and gunned down, police said. At least 20 shell casings from large-caliber semiautomatic handguns were found at the scene.
"The slayings have all the signs of a multiple drug hit," said Detective Vernon Parker of the homicide unit.
The bodies of Randolph Holmes, 29, of the 3100 block of Mareco Ave. in Northeast Baltimore, and Darin Griffin, 31, of the 1700 block of N. Chapel St. on the east side, were found about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 4500 block of Clifton Road near Gwynns Falls Park, Parker said. He said each had been shot several times.
Parker said it appeared that one of the men, who was shot at least once in the back, tried to run into nearby woods to escape the killers.
Parker said neither man carried identification, and police fingerprint records were used to identify them.
Anyone with information about the slayings is asked to call Parker at 410-396-2100.
