Lansdowne man dies after motorcycle crash

A 24-year-old Lansdowne man died Sunday afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle on Greenway Road near First Avenue in Glen Burnie, police said.

Gage Jackson Carter of the 300 block of Wise Well Court was north on Greenway Road about 12:30 p.m. when his 2000 Suzuki motorcycle skidded onto First Avenue and slid on its right side. The motorcycle and driver then vaulted into the air and hit a stop sign.

Anne Arundel County police investigators said it appeared that Carter was speeding when he lost control of the motorcycle.

Carter, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m., police said.

Boy, 8, treated, released after falling off bike

An 8-year-old Crofton boy who was riding his bicycle without a helmet and crashed after hitting a curb Sunday afternoon was treated and released from Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center, officials said yesterday.

County firefighters responded to the accident at Happy Lane and Aberdeen Court, where the boy had fallen off his bike and hit his head on the curb.

Maryland law requires children to wear helmets when riding bicycles.
