The neighborhoods of West Baltimore are going to be showcased Saturday as the second Buying Into Baltmore Fair and Trolley Tour takes place this year at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
The city of Baltimore is offering a $3,000 grant to the first 50 homebuyers who close on a property within 90 days of the fair.
The $3,000 can be used toward a down payment or closing costs.
The city received 55 contracts within three weeks of the first fair, with 28 buyers going to settlement on homes with an average price of $78,500, according to Tracy Gosson, director of the Live Baltimore Marketing Center. The center, Freddie Mac and the city are sponsoring the fair.
To be eligible for grants, participants take a trolley tour to featured neighborhoods, visit homes and receive a list of homes for sale in West Baltimore.
At the fair, prospective buyers can meet local real estate professionals, lenders and talk to area community and nonprofit groups.
They also will have the opportunity to learn about the buying process as well as programs to obtain affordable loans.
