Blue Jays: Reached agreement with Dunedin, Fla., to keep their spring training headquarters there for 15 years with two five-year club options.

Cubs: Signed P Jerry Spradlin for the remainder of the season.

Indians: Recalled P Sean DePaula from Triple-A Buffalo and placed him on the 60-day DL.

Marlins: Signed manager John Boles, bench coach Joe Breeden, pitching coach Rich Dubee, third base coach Fredi Gonzalez, hitting coach Jack Maloof, and infield coach Tony Taylor to one-year contract extensions through the 2002 season. Announced the resignation of first base coach Rusty Kuntz, effective at the end of the season, to become minor-league base-running and outfield coordinator with the Marlins.

Phillies: Purchased the contract of P Thomas Jacquez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Pirates: Purchased the contract of P Brian Smith and OF Adam Hyzdu from Double-A Altoona. Moved P Francisco Cordova and P Jason Schmidt from the 15- to the 60-day DL.

Red Sox : Recalled P Paxton Crawford from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Navy: Named Joel Sharratt assistant wrestling coach

Football

Cardinals: Waived DT Darwin Walker and WR-TE Tywan Mitchell. Added DE Simeon Rice and C Jason Starkey to the active roster.

Redskins: Signed WR Derrius Thompson from practice squad to active roster.

Titans: Placed TE Michael Roan on the injured reserve list. Activated TE Mike Leach from the practice squad.

Hockey

Islanders: Signed D Roman Hamrlik to a four-year contract.

Oilers: Re-signed restricted free-agent RW Georges Laraque to a three-year contract.

Rangers: Agreed to terms with D Dale Purinton and D Drew Bannister.
