Today's games

Western Maryland (0-1) at Randolph-Macon (1-0)

Time: 1 p.m.

Site: Day Field, Ashland, Va.

Radio: WTTR (1470 AM)

Series standing: Western Maryland leads 15-12-3

Outlook: Western Maryland lost to Bridgewater last weekend, ending a streak of regular-season wins that bridged three seasons and 30 games. Today's foe, like Bridgewater, is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, also coming off a win over a Centennial Conference opponent. Macon quarterback Hunter Price ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to beat Gettysburg, 24-21.

Johns Hopkins (0-0) at Washington & Lee (0-0)

Time: 1 p.m.

Site: Wilson Field, Lexington, Va.

Radio: None

Series standing: Washington & Lee leads 5-4-1

Outlook: Washington & Lee generally fails to keep Johns Hopkins from scoring, so Hopkins normally wins as it has in the past three meetings, averaging 36 points. Hopkins coach Jim Margraff (55-42-3) needs only five wins to tie Dr. Ray Van Orman (1920-35) as the school's leader.

William Paterson (0-0) at Salisbury State (0-1)

Time: 1 p.m.

Site: Sea Gull Stadium, Salisbury

Radio: WICO (1320 AM)

Series standing: Salisbury leads 3-1

Outlook: Pat Brannan was the bright spot for Salisbury last week, recording 16 tackles in a 20-18 loss to Newport News Apprentice. In last year's meeting between Salisbury and William Paterson, the Pioneers came away with a 52-45 win.

Towson (1-0) at Lafayette (0-0)

Time: 1:30 p.m.

Site: Fisher Field, Easton, Pa.

Radio: WTTR (1470 AM); WTMD (89.7 FM)

Series standing: Tied 2-2

Outlook: Towson provided an answer to the tailback question last week, as Noah Read and Ray Harris ran for 116 and 120 yards, respectively, during a 36-13 win over Fordham. Gordy Combs looks for his 50th career win as Towson coach, against a team the Tigers dispatched easily in a 35-14 win last season.

Temple (1-0) at Maryland (0-0)

Time: 6 p.m.

Site: Byrd Stadium, College Park

Series standing: Maryland leads 3-0

Radio: WBAL (1090 AM), WTEM (980 AM). The game will be heard on WBAL in its entirety following completion of the Orioles-Anaheim game that begins at 4:05.

TV: live telecast on ComcastSportsNet in the Philadelphia market.

Outlook: Coming off 180 yards vs. Navy, Tanardo Sharps will get a chance to match his speed against LaMont Jordan's power and elusiveness. It could be quite a show. Missing for the Terps will be senior wide receiver Jason Hatala (lower back), junior backup linebacker Reggie Lewis (hamstring) and redshirt freshman defensive lineman Scott Smith (back).

Bowie State (0-1) at Winston-Salem State (1-0)

Time: 6 p.m.

Site: Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Radio/TV: None

Series standing: Winston-Salem leads 9-4

Outlook: Bowie State hopes for a better start than the one that led to a 26-21 loss to Johnson C. Smith last week. The team couldn't find its groove until it was down three touchdowns with 9:52 remaining. Tailback Terrie Newkirk was the star for Winston-Salem in its 39-28 win over Division I-AA South Carolina State, with 158 offensive yards.

Morgan State (0-0) at Florida A&M; (1-0)

Time: 7 p.m.

Site: Bragg Stadium, Tallahassee, Fla.

Radio: WEAA (88.9 FM)

Series standing: N/A

Outlook: A win, or even a strong showing, against MEAC power Florida A&M; sends a strong, positive signal to Morgan State's followers and opponents. A repeat of last year's 56-0 halftime deficit sends a different message. The past five meetings have been blowouts. Once again, the main concern is keeping up with or slowing down the Rattlers' offense, which produced 28 unanswered points during a 49-21 win over Delaware State last week.
