Student member named to college board of trustees

Severn resident Lynne Edwards recently was named by Gov. Parris N. Glendening to a one-year term as the student member of the Anne Arundel Community College board of trustees.

Edwards, who is studying to become a home health care nurse, has worked with developmentally disabled adults since 1994 and this past semester was a student government liaison for returning students.

Edwards is an instructor and van driver for Opportunity Builders Inc.

As a student member of the board, Edwards will attend all meetings and vote on each board action.

New, prospective students invited to college sessions

University of Maryland University College will hold group advising sessions for new and prospective students at Annapolis Center, 190 Admiral Cochrane Drive, Suite 120.

The sessions will be held Thursday and Aug. 7, 17, and 21 and are designed for students who plan to register for the fall semester at UMUC. Curriculum, course choices, credits and graduation requirements will be discussed.

Participants should bring a transcript from each school previously attended. Reservations: 410- 266-2774.
