Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects. Among them are:

Lansdowne Elementary School, 2301 Alma Road, Lansdowne, is recruiting volunteers to read to elementary school pupils one-on-one or in small groups starting in the fall, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. school days.
