Shooting: Two men were arguing in the 2400 block of Edmondson Ave. about 10 p.m. Wednesday when one pulled a handgun and shot the other in the stomach. Lt. Gregory A. Eads, of the district's criminal investigation bureau, said the victim was found moments later in an alley behind the street. He was in critical condition yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and unable to give police information.

Robbery: A man robbed another man of nearly $700 worth of jewelry, cash and a watch at gunpoint about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of N. Chapel St.

Western District

Officer assaulted/arrests: Sgt. Greg Taylor and Officer Brian England stopped a car in the 1900 block of W. Lafayette Ave. about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday because its two male occupants appeared suspicious. After the stop, one of the occupants assaulted England, breaking a finger on the officer's right hand. Other officers arrived and helped arrest the men. In the car, police found a quantity of marijuana. The men, whose names were not available, were charged with possession of marijuana and one with assaulting a police officer. England was treated at Mercy Medical Center and released. Both suspects were processed at Central Booking and Intake Center.

Shooting: A man, 24, was in a sub shop in the 1500 block of N. Monroe St. about 1 a.m. Wednesday when a gunman entered, shot him in the stomach and fled. The victim was in serious condition yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. No arrest had been made and police knew of no motive for the shooting.

Southwestern District

Shootings: An occupant of a Ford Bronco being driven in the 1700 block of Poplar Grove St. about noon yesterday fired at least two gunshots and wounded a man, 19, and a girl, 11. Both victims were shot in the right leg. The girl was standing several feet from the man. He was in good condition at Sinai Hospital last night. The girl was treated at St. Agnes HealthCare and released. No arrest has been made.

Drug arrest: Officer Byron Conaway was in the 400 block of S. Bentalou St. about 6 p.m. Tuesday when he noticed a man in possession of suspected narcotics. Conaway seized 11 $10 vials of suspected cocaine from the man and arrested him. Robert Charles Bryant, 18, of the 400 block of Vincent St. was charged with possession of suspected cocaine and possession of suspected cocaine with intent to distribute. He was processed at Central Booking and Intake Center.

Robbery/arrest: A woman, 33, was in a carryout restaurant in the 2300 block of Harford Road about 11 p.m. Tuesday when a man grabbed a $20 bill from her hand and fled. A block away, police spotted a man fitting the suspect's description and arrested him. Anthony Ray, 19, of the 400 block of Pitman Place was charged with unarmed robbery.

Assault: A boy, 14, was in the 1100 block of N. Patterson Park Ave. about noon Wednesday when another boy struck him in the head with a large piece of wood. The victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for lacerations and released. No arrest had been made.

Robbery try: Two men in a blue four-door car tried to rob the Wendy's restaurant in the 8600 block of Philadelphia Road late Tuesday night. After ordering food at the drive-through window, one of the men pulled a handgun and ordered an employee to give him money from the cash register. Instead of complying, the employee backed away from the window. The men sped off.
