Camp update

Thumbs up: Shannon Sharpe provided a preview of how valuable the tight end may become in the Ravens' system this season. He pulled down all four passes in his direction, including a leaping catch about 15 yards down the field.

Thumbs down: It wasn't the best day as a Raven for backup quarterback Trent Dilfer. The seven-year veteran lagged on reads, put too much air under the ball and threw the day's only interception.

Catch of the day: Nickel back Robert Bailey continued his solid start, with a one-handed, over-the-shoulder interception of Dilfer. He's shown a physical side, too, locking up receivers off the line.

Different day: Running back Jamal Lewis, the Ravens' top pick, had a rough time following up his impressive debut. Lewis fumbled, turned around late for a pass and then got clocked by Ray Lewis. To his credit, Jamal Lewis got right up after the hit.

Running away: Wide receiver Qadry Ismail showcased his speed when he beat Clarence Love on a drag route and out-raced him 30 yards to the end zone.

Trainer's room: Starting wide receiver Patrick Johnson broke his right clavicle (collarbone) on a diving catch and will be out at least six weeks. ... Backup tackle Spencer Folau strained his lower back and missed the last quarter of the morning practice as well as the entire afternoon session.

Quotable: "[It was his] hello to the NFL. But we'll learn from that and Jamal will get some learning out of that as well once he can breathe." - Coach Brian Billick on running back Jamal Lewis getting leveled by Ray Lewis.

Today's practices: 8:45 a.m.-11 a.m.; 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

Countdown to season opener: 39 days.
