Sykesville football expands to offer more team play

Sykesville Raider Football and Cheerleading Organization is expanding to provide more children the opportunity to play football.

A team for 5- and 6-year-olds, the Pitbulls, has been added and will focus on the fundamentals of the game. The team will play intra-squad scrimmages and organized scrimmages with other teams the same age. The Pitbulls will not play official games with the CCFL.

An unlimited team also has been added to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Unlimited Youth Football Association. This team is for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders who weigh 130 pounds and more and cannot compete under CCFL weight standards.

An extended registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Obrecht Field Complex.
