Sue Trainor's song stories
Songs are stories set to music and involve our whole being. They form images in our minds and compel our bodies to participate through dance.
At two area libraries Tuesday, Sue Trainor, a local songwriter and performer, will lead songwriting workshops that are designed to give kids ages 5 to 11 a creative means of expressing their thoughts and ideas.
Called "Sing Your Story," the program focuses on songs that tell stories in verse, tune, rhythm and movement. Each child will be able to develop his or her own song-story and share it with the group. Those who are a little shy might very well be swayed by the toe-tapping and singing of Trainor's award-winning songs. She received the 1999 "Best Album" kids award from the Washington Area Music Association for her first children's music CD, "Under Tables, Out Back Doors."
Trainor appears at the Pimlico Branch Library at 2 p.m., (5001 Park Heights Ave., 410-398-8549) and at the Govans Branch Library at 6 p.m. (5714 Bellona Ave., 410-396-6098).
