Tutors Needed


Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects. Among them are:

Huntingdon Baptist Tutorial Project, 301 E. 31st St., Baltimore, seeking committed reading volunteers from 9 a.m. to noon for Saturday tutoring session starting in September for grades one to five. Two weekends a month are the minimum requirement. Contact: Carolyn Foster, 410-889-6579 or 410-664-6503.

Dumbarton Middle School, 300 Dumbarton Road, Rodgers Forge, is seeking volunteer tutors and mentors to work with middle school children who are reading up to two grades below level to improve reading and study skills. Contact: Dr. Marsha Baumeister, or Kim Adkins, 410-887-3176.
