Leopold one of eight chosen by GOP as a national Legislator of the Year

Del. John R. Leopold is among eight people chosen to receive the 2000 Legislator of the Year award by the National Republican Legislators Association.

Leopold, a Pasadena resident and lone Republican in the 31st District's General Assembly delegation, was chosen on the basis of his bills sponsored and passed despite the Republican Party's minority status in the legislature.

The honor will be presented at an awards luncheon in Chicago on July 19, taking place with the annual meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures. The Republicans' association has about 3,500 members.
