Shooting: A man in his early 20s was standing in the 1800 block of W. Lafayette Ave. about 3 p.m. yesterday when an unknown gunman approached and shot him several times in the upper torso. The gunmen fled. The victim was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where last night he was in critical condition. No arrest had been made.
Robbery: A man, 19, was in the 200 block of S. Heath St. about 11 p.m. Saturday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of a pager valued at $80.
Theft from vehicle: Someone entered the trunk of a 1996 Cadillac parked in the 400 block of W. Pratt St. and stole a briefcase, two coolers and a wallet containing an undisclosed sum of money Saturday.
Assault: A female motorist was stopped at a stop sign in the 200 block of E. Randall St. about 4:30 p.m. Saturday when a man armed with a handgun stood in front of her car and demanded she get out. Instead, the woman went forward and struck the man, knocking him to the pavement. Police said the woman reported the incident when she arrived home and that the man walked away apparently uninjured.
Robbery: A boy, 11, was riding his bicycle in the 2400 block of Winchester St. on Saturday afternoon when an older male shoved him to the ground and stole the bicycle, valued at $80.
Assault: An employee of Auto Zone in the 6500 block of Reisterstown Road was trying to stop a man who tried to steal property Saturday night from driving away when the employee's arm became caught in the car's partially open door. The car sped off and the employee, 42, escaped serious injury. Police are seeking a 1989 Pontiac Grand Am with tags NRF 230.
Burglary: A man, 42, was arrested Saturday after he tried to enter two houses. After trying to enter a house in the 4100 block of Calloway Ave., he tried one in the 3700 block of W. Cold Spring Lane, where he was arrested. The suspect is a resident of the 4000 block of Edgewood Road.
Robbery/carjacking: The manager of the Deb Shop at Hunt Valley Mall was about to enter her car about 9:35 p.m. Saturday on the mall parking lot before going to a bank to make a night deposit when a gunman took the bag that contained an undisclosed sum of money and then demanded the woman's keys. After shoving the woman aside, the gunman got into the woman's car, a four--door 1984 Chevrolet Citation with tags GGP 545, and drove away.
Burglary: Someone entered an office at Baltimore Country Club at Five Farms in the 11500 block of Mays Chapel Road in Timonium and removed more than $1,000 Friday night or early Saturday.
White Marsh Precinct
Robbery try: A woman, 28, was in the 4400 block of Glenmore Ave. about 9:40 p.m. Saturday when a man armed with a silver-colored handgun demanded her money. When the woman said she had none, the man walked away.
Rape: A man and woman were out drinking with friends early Saturday morning when the man suggested she accompany him to his room at a motel in the 5000 block of Campbell Blvd. A short time later, the woman fell asleep in the bathtub. About 4 a.m., she awakened to find the man having sex with her. She protested and the man fled.
North Point Precinct
Counterfeit money: When a woman tried to purchase items at a Royal Farm Store in the 8200 block of Eastern Blvd. with a $20 bill Saturday, the clerk recognized it as being counterfeit and called police. The woman told police she did not recall where she got the bill and was released after being interviewed. The U.S. Secret Service is investigating the incident.
Stabbing: A man, 20, was walking along North Point Road near Old Battle Grove Road with friends about 10 p.m. Saturday when the group came upon two other men, During a conversation, one of the pair stabbed the victim in the left side before he and his companion fled. The victim refused medical treatment for a minor injury and no arrest had been made.
Stolen vehicle: A dark green four-door 1995 Jeep Cherokee with Virginia tags C12896 was stolen in the 8700 block of Loch Raven Blvd. about 7:20 p.m. Saturday. In the vehicle was photographic equipment and a cellular phone, all of unknown value.
Assault: A man, 39, and a woman, 30, were walking in the 8600 block of Loch Raven Blvd. about 4 a.m. Saturday when they were stopped by two young males, one of which asked if they knew anything about a bicycle that was stolen. When the couple said they did not, one of the males struck the man with a golf club while the other pulled a handgun and threatened to shoot the woman. Neither victim was injured and the two youths drove away in a Subaru station wagon with unknown Virginia tags.
Robbery/arrest: A male, 16, was in the 2900 block of Harford Road about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when a youth he knows knocked him to the ground and robbed him of several video games and wrestling dolls, all valued at nearly $600. Later, police went to a nearby house, recovered the victim's property and arrested the suspect.
Robbery: Three men, one armed with a handgun, robbed Taco Bell in the 2300 block of E. Joppa Road of an undisclosed sum of money about 10:25 a.m. Saturday. Before fleeing in a burgundy Mazda 626 with unknown tags, the men removed the videotape from a surveillance camera.
