Harford's Eatough again king of hill

Chris Eatough successfully defended his title at the grueling 2000 24 Hours of Snowshoe mountain bike race this weekend in West Virginia.

Eatough, 25, lives in Harford County and traveled to Snowshoe Mountain with the rest of his Trek East Coast Factory Team for the marathon relay race.

Eatough led the team to victory, accounting for five of the squad's 18 laps around the 11.3-mile course, two more than the next-closest finisher. After recording a blistering opening lap of an hour and 11 minutes (with a delaying LeMans-style start), Eatough never wavered, even when beginning his fourth lap at 4:01 a.m.

Teammate Paul Buschi added five laps of his own, while top women riders Katie Compton and Susan Haywood completed the winning group.
