Actor Josh Charles, one of the stars of the TV series "Sports Night" and an avowed Ravens fan, was on the sidelines at the team's passing camp yesterday, feeding his "football fever."
Charles, a native of Baltimore, described himself as "a huge Ravens fan" who often would change the script on "Sports Night" to reflect a better result for the team.
"That was the one place I'd draw the line on," said Charles, 28, who grew up in Mt. Washington. "They'd have me saying the Ravens lost, and I wouldn't do it."
Living in Los Angeles the past several years, Charles said he watched every Ravens game on satellite, and attended games when they played on the West Coast.
ABC canceled "Sports Night" this season, however. Now, Charles, who had a starring role in "Dead Poets Society" and also appeared in "Hairspray," is working in Baltimore on a movie, "My Father's House." That movie was written and is directed by Larry Holder, another Baltimorean.
Dilfer sits out
Backup quarterback Trent Dilfer did not participate in yesterday's workout after twisting an ankle on Monday chasing a defender.
"It was on an interception - it served him right," coach Brian Billick said in jest.
Dilfer said sitting out practice on a rain-slick turf was a precautionary move, adding he planned to work today.
