The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

West Columbia

Little Patuxent Parkway: 12100 block, Hickory Ridge. Someone entered a storage bin May 30 or 31 by bypassing the combination lock on the bin. The bin was ransacked but nothing was taken.

East Columbia

Cloudleap Court: 8700 block, Long Reach. Three people attempted to rob three Elkridge youths sitting in a vehicle at the Long Reach Exxon about 8:45 p.m. Monday. One man punched the driver of the vehicle in the face and demanded money. A second man broke the passenger-side window. The victims, who were not injured, drove off.

Columbia Gateway Drive: 7100 block. Someone used a rock to break glass doors on GE Capital's building about 10 p.m. Sunday and entered a rear room. Nothing was taken.

Berger Road: 9500 block. Someone stole a tractor-trailer from RheeBrothers Inc. about 12:15 p.m. May 30. The tractor was recovered in Baltimore County, but the trailer is missing.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Normandy Woods Drive: 3200 block, Ellicott City. Someone entered an apartment between noon and 12:30 p.m. May 29 and took a laptop computer and a credit card.

Old Washington Road: 6300 block, Elkridge. An officer noticed what he considered a suspicious Budget Rental Truck parked in front of the vending machines at the Waterworks Car Wash at 12:30 a.m. Thursday. He discovered that the machines were broken into and found large bolt cutters, channel lock pliers, screwdrivers and other tools in the truck. Also in the truck - which had been stolen - were syringes and heroin. Arrested were Danny Gordon ComptonJr., 28, and Louis Martinez Colon, 49, both of Baltimore, police said. Compton and Colon were charged with possessing a stolen automobile, theft, destruction of property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and heroin possession, police said.

Old Hunt Club Road: 5800 block, Elkridge. A resident came home about 11 p.m. Sunday to find the house doors open and items missing, including a 12-gauge shotgun and baby clothes. There was no sign of forced entry.

North Laurel/Jessup

Doves Fly Way: 8600 block, North Laurel. Someone broke into a backyard shed about 8:10 p.m. Thursday. Nothing was stolen.

Washington Boulevard: 7900 block, Jessup. Someone stole money from a hotel room between 11 a.m. and noon Sunday.
