Deadline looms for Taneytown High alumni banquet

The Taneytown High School alumni will hold their annual banquet June 24 at the Pleasant Valley Fire Hall.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a social period, refreshments and music by the Dave Baker Quintette.

Pleasant Valley Ladies Auxiliary will serve a buffet featuring fried shrimp and ham at 6:30 p.m.

The program will include the traditional roll-call of classes having a reunion (those classes ending in 5 and 0), introductions and remarks.

The cost is $13, with reservations required by Saturday; those received after the deadline will be put on a waiting list and honored only if cancellations occur.

Runnymede pupils raise $8,900 for county charity

Runnymede Elementary School is to present a check tomorrow for $8,900 to Carroll County Food Sunday during a pupil musical and assembly.

Pupils who participated in a walkathon May 4 raised the money to help the organization, which assists the needy.

Eldersburg woman wins state beauty pageant title

Young Graybeal of Eldersburg was named the Sunburst 2000 State Miss Queen at the Sunburst Beauty Pageant competition finals May 27-28 in Aberdeen.

Contestants from toddlers to adults (18-27) first compete locally. Graybeal won the Carroll County title in the fall at Carrolltown Center. She will advance to the national competition in August in Atlanta.

At the state finals, Graybeal also won the titles of Miss Photogenic and Miss Portfolio.

Graybeal is a full-time student, stay-at-home mother, wife and model/actress. She has applied to represent Mrs. Carroll County at the Mrs. Maryland USA 2001 Pageant next January.
