Employed by Kemper Sports Management, a Chicago firm that manages 47 golf courses nationally, including the 3-year-old, 18-hole course in Elkridge under contract to the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. Responsible for program planning, day-to-day management, directing 11 year-round employees and a staff that peaks at 70. Course revenue tops $2 million a year.

Best part of the job: "As they say, location, location, location. This course is a place people like to play. We're committed to providing a quality, upscale product at a reasonable cost... ."
Biggest challenge in the job: "Managing employees, as in any business. But the challenge is running the facility so that there is no cost to Howard County government by providing programs the public wants and needs. We've been successful, and we want to continue in that direction."
