Finksburg planning council to view analysis of area
The Finksburg Planning Area Council will view a geographic information systems analysis of the area at tomorrow's 7 p.m. meeting at Sandymount United Methodist Church.
Council member Martin Schmidt has created the display of the Finksburg community and environs. The multimedia electronic display will show the exact locations of new and proposed developments; the population, income and property value distributions; and the boundaries of the Reservoir Protection Agreement.
The group's board of directors is analyzing changes recommended by the county commissioners to the county master plan.
Other topics will include the proposed Finksburg-area library, which has not been included in the county budget for next year, and an update on the Liberty Reservoir watershed agreement.

Legion post to hold Memorial Day service
The Sykesville American Legion Memorial Post 223 will hold its annual Memorial Day observance at 11 a.m. Monday at the post home, 7327 Slacks Road.
Robert M. Johnson, past Department of Maryland commander, will speak.
An artillery salute by the 29th Division National Guard based in Westminster will honor those who died in the service of their country.
The post's scholarship winners, Cara Lessels and Andrius Vaskys, will present readings.
The service will conclude with the playing of taps by Boy Scout Jarad Schneiderman of Troop 224.
Refreshments will be served afterward. The public is welcome.

The Westminster Police Department recently recognized several officers for outstanding achievement in 1999.
