Public forums set for development plans for waterfront sites
The Maryland Department of Transportation is holding a series of public forums to summarize work recently begun on the Port Land Use Development Zone Master Plan for vacant and underutilized sites within 3,000 feet of the port waterfront from Brandon Shores to Middle River.
Meetings are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 31 at Harbor Hospital's LifeResource Center, June 1 at the Dundalk campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, June 6 at Solley Elementary School in Anne Arundel County, and June 7 at the Living Classrooms Foundation's Weinberg Education Center Great Room in East Baltimore.
Department consultants from the LDR International Inc. study team will describe the study process and timeline, and solicit ideas and comment from the community.
LDR specializes in urban design, landscape architecture, land planning, strategic planning and tourism development services.

Department of Aging plans to hold its annual job fair
The county Department of Aging and Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the seventh annual 55+ Expo and Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 31 at the Big Vanilla Athletic Club on Ritchie Highway in Arnold.
More than 75 businesses will have exhibits on services and opportunities.
While the fair is geared toward seniors and families providing care for older relatives, the job fair will have a wider sweep - intended for adults of all ages.

Small business center planning an open house
Entrepreneurs and small business owners interested in growth are invited to an open house being held tomorrow by the county field office of the Maryland Small Business Development Center.
Guests will have an opportunity to meet small business counselor Ramsey Crosby, network with current and former clients, and learn how the center has affected the county and state economy and work force.
The program is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is at the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., in Suite 200 at 2660 Riva Road, Annapolis.

Cathedral Stone Products buys building in Hanover
Cathedral Stone Products, a distributor of restoration materials for historic stone work, has purchased a 22,800-square-foot building at 7266 Park Circle Drive in Hanover from Bresland LLC for $1.1 million.
Founded in 1980, Cathedral, which has supplied materials for national landmark buildings including the White House, has a staff of 15 employees.
Formerly based in Jessup, the company plans to use the space to expand in size, accommodate a wider product line, and offer training classes for customers on techniques for using materials purchased from the company.
The sale was announced by KLNB Inc., commercial real estate services, which handled negotiations on behalf of Bresland. Cathedral was represented by McShea & Co.

Amerix promotion: Annapolis resident Don Lundblad, formerly executive vice president for operations, has been named chief operating officer of the Corporate Services Group at Columbia-based Amerix Corp. One of Howard County's largest employers, Amerix, a service provider to the credit counseling industry, is reorganizing to capitalize on the Internet and e-commerce to serve its customers - a realignment that created the group being headed by Lundblad.
Authority chairman: John Brusnighan, county public works director, has been elected chairman of the board of the Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority. He is a resident of Severna Park.
Company changes: Jim Deakins, president of First Chesapeake Mortgage Corp. in Annapolis, has announced the appointments of Joyce Jewett-Floyd of Linthicum as residential construction lending manager, David Trower of Baltimore as senior builder marketing representative, Susan Darley of Severna Park as assistant builder marketing representative, Jim Lowicki of Baltimore as senior credit analyst, and Kelly Zimmerman of Rose Haven as senior administrator. The company specializes in construction lending.
