Stomp at the Lyric
Enjoy an evening filled with kicking, smashing, banging and jumping when the award-winning international percussion group Stomp returns to the Lyric Opera House, 140 W. Mount Royal Ave., Tuesday through May 20. The group creates electrifying music with found objects -- trash cans, buckets, wooden poles, plastic barrels, rubber pipes and more. Fells Point house tour
Tour a mix of 18th-, 19th- and 20-century homes Sunday at the 29th annual Historic Harbor House Tour of Fell's Point. Arlo Guthrie at the Meyerhoff

Mother's Day Poetry Reading
Relationships between mothers and daughters will be explored by Maryland poets during the fourth annual Mother's Day Poetry Reading at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bibelot Bookstore in the Village of Cross Keys, 40 Village Square. About 20 poets, including Lalita Noronha (pictured), Chezia Thompson Cager, Danuta Kosk-Kosicka and Dr. Chester Wickwire, will read poems published in the chapbook, "Thy Mother's Glass: More Poems for Mothers and Daughters." Embassy tour in Washington
You can tour foreign countries Saturday without ever showing a passport. Eight embassies in Washington welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the 54th Goodwill Embassy Tour. The self-guided tour includes visits to Finland, the Netherlands, the British Embassy Gardens, Cyprus, Russia, South Africa, Brazil and Thailand. Participants also have the opportunity to meet ambassadors and purchase international souvenirs donated by Washington's diplomatic community. Free shuttle buses run along the tour route. Flower Mart
The Flower Mart blooms Wednesday along Mount Vernon Place, featuring traditional offerings with a few new twists. The event, run for 82 years by the Women's Civic League, has a new sponsor -- the Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association. More vendors will be offering their wares, hours have been extended and evening concerts have been added. There will be demonstrations on gardening and floral design, community booths, information on health issues, health screenings and a pretty-hat contest. And then there are the tried and true -- myriad flowers for sale, Maypole dances and delectable food, including crab cakes and the legendary lemon-peppermint sticks. 'Elephant Kingdom' and 'Africa'
Experience close up the majesty of the world's largest land animal when "Africa's Elephant Kingdom" thunders across the giant screen at the Maryland Science Center's IMAX Theater. From tomorrow through Sept. 4, you can enter the lives of a single clan of elephants and journey with them through a drought-stricken season of survival on the African savanna. Running concurrently is "Africa. One Continent. Many Worlds." an 8,500-square-foot exhibit that spotlights the diversity of the continent, its people and their culture.
