Annapolis public works to begin street cleaning today on King George

Annapolis' Department of Public Works is scheduled to begin its "Clean Sweep" program today on King George Street.

Residents will be provided free off-street parking for the day at Hillman Garage while crews sweep the street, make minor repairs to roads, curbs and traffic signs, and repaint red curbs. The program is concentrated in the historic downtown district and will continue Wednesdays.

Scheduled streets to be cleaned are: Prince George, May 10; Duke of Gloucester, May 17; St. Mary's, Newman, Green and Compromise, May 31; Market, Conduit, Charles and Shipwright, June 7; Maryland Avenue and North and Francis streets, June 14; and Cornhill, Fleet, East and Randall, June 21.

No cleaning will take place May 24 -- Commissioning Day at the Naval Academy.
